- World-views…
- help unify our thought life (like a quilt)
- help us in our search for meaning (like a puzzle)
- help us gain direction for actions (like a roadmap)
- help us be centered in our exploring (like a plum line)
- Christian World-view is a person. Our allegiance is to someone, not simply and idea
- Applying our mental images - he unifies our thoughts, creates our meaning, maps our lives, and centers us in our explorations
- Deeper Purpose of World-view
- Comprehensive strategies for “seeing” the world. Understanding how it works.
- Ways of seeking plausible answers to the perennial “pesky” questions of life (see, handout)
- Is a life-long process that will involve change as you encounter real life
- Selected competeing world-views
- All world views, including Christianity, explore three essential matters
- metaphysics - being
- epistemics - knowing
- axiology - valuing and doing
- But not ever wolrd view arrives at the same place as Christianity
- There is not a single monolithic Christian world-view
- There is a world-view goverended by a few gnereal and commonly agred to core ideas, and with these, some variations.
- Triune Godhead
- Pre-existence / deity of Christ
- Inspiration of Scripture
- Vigin Birth
- Substitutionary atonement
